Public Enemy #1
A public enemy, coined in the early 1900’s, is used to describe someone dangerous or damaging to the people. So it’s only fitting that I blog about the public enemies of the church, right? So, public enemy #1? Division. Christ said in Mark 3:24-25 “If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand”. Some would argue that He was speaking against the kingdom of Satan because this verse in context refers to the pharisees accusing him of being possessed by demons, yet casting demons. However the same holds true for any kingdom, both good and evil. If divided the kingdom will not stand. We as the Church have so many chasms between each other that we couldn’t give each differing denomination it’s own state in America. In other words even if each denomination had it’s own state we’d still find something to fight or argue about. Why, when the first churches established did unity remain intact throughout the differing churches yet now even churches in the same denomination can’t get along? Public Enemy #1. We have to, and I’m not being cliche-ic, get past the petty differences that cause us to argue and bicker. If you’re a Christian, you’re a Christian… That’s the bottom line. If you don’t like what people are doing to try and minister to other people, and it’s bearing fruit, shut your mouth and tell God. Don’t go blast across the nations gossip and condemnation against your brother… If your going to make a mass announcement use it for something good, like, I don’t know, the Gospel? If you’re not doing anything to minister to people around you yet you can criticize someone else’s ministry please read Matthew 7:1-5. I don’t mean to get critical but it’s time the Church grows up and does what it’s supposed to do, be like Christ. There’s only one way to be like Christ, so why be divisive? Can we please hold a trial and convict Public Enemy #1 so that we can start doing what we are supposed to be doing and not watching the rest of the world go to hell?
